eCap is where Surveillance Technology started. The value proposition for eCap is as valid today as the day we opened our doors. Manufacturing lines make products to sell. Every moment a production line is down, the company is losing money. Any tool that helps keep a manufacturing line running contributes to the bottom line. eCap is such a tool.

The eCap strategy is simple:

	Install moderately priced good resolution video cameras on the manufacturing production line at key points
	Collect data from the cameras continuously at some remotely located recorders
	When an error condition occurs, trigger the recorders to store the data to disk for subsequent review
	Review the data as necessary to quickly determine what caused the problem on the production line and repair the problem

STI and ProConnections have implemented and packaged this strategy in a convenient solution. We've refined it through deployment and customer commentary and today, we are shipping the third generation eCap solution with GigECap, our fourth generation recorder with support for GigE Vision cameras, available for delivery this spring.

Today’s eCap system consists of:

	Rack mounted network digital recorders using IP video cameras capable of capturing at frame rates at up to 60 FPS
	Trigger input support for hard discrete I/O, OPC compliant PLCs, on-screen "soft triggers"
	A recorder application that manages the cameras, receives the triggering information from the manufacturing line and writes the captured video data to disk
	A client application, running on any PC on the network, that facilitates viewing live video from the manufacturing line as well as captured events stored on the recorders
	An administration tool that uses an intuitive interface to functionally group settings and walk an operator through the process of making adjustments to the recorder and cameras

Forget sifting through endless hours of video trying to find the root of your problem. eCap's cataloged event retrieval gets you the information you need fast. Events video clips can be immediately reviewed using the event player included with both the local recorder and remote client applications. Sort events by camera, time, or even trigger name. The data you need to be back up and running again is just a few mouse clicks away.

Additional eCap features include:

	Print or save image captures, save event clips as AVI files
	Low disk space warnings and configurable automated data purging
	Manual event maintenance including archival to recordable DVD/CD
